International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8th every year, is a day to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and to call for gender equality. This year, the theme for IWD 2023 is "DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality".

The name of my team is Team Mems, and here’s a quick summary of our experiences during the She Code Africa (SCA) Hackfest 2022 and how we came second.

We have successfully completed our first Open Source for Equality Challenge! The results are impressive: five web apps by five female developers in four local languages, covering a range of topics that will help empower rural women in Uganda.

To increase awareness on COVID-19, substance abuse and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) amongst refugees and those in the host communities TPO Uganda adopted the use of the solar-powered MP3 Audiopedia devices as part of the innovations to ensure continuity.

This cheat sheet aims to define key phrases and concepts used to describe open source. It further provides a brief explanation of the words' meanings along with a link to a website where you may get further details.

If you have created educational audio content for your community, you will most likely want to disseminate it among your beneficiaries. Ideally, you do this through communication channels such as WhatsApp. However, in some cases it is useful to use printed materials such as posters or stickers to distribute a specific internet address where people can access the audio information you created.

Using your own audio messages in combination with Audiopedia's content can be a good idea if you want to build a digital community outreach for your NGO. In combination with WhatsApp, it can become quite a powerful tool.
