Audiopedia Foundation and Pro Mujer join forces to bring audio education to thousands of indigenous women

In an effort to break down barriers to access to knowledge and promote gender equality, the Audiopedia Foundation and Pro Mujer have established a strategic alliance to bring educational content in audio format to thousands of indigenous and rural women in Latin America.

This collaboration will enable more women to access key information on entrepreneurship, leadership and personal development in their native languages, without the need for connectivity or literacy.

One more step towards gender equality

The Audiopedia Foundation's mission is clear: to empower women through access to essential knowledge. Recognised by the United Nations SDG Digital Acceleration Agenda as an innovative solution to achieving gender equality (SDG 5), Audiopedia uses low-cost technology and digital platforms to provide vital information to those who need it most.

As part of this partnership, the educational content of the Emprende Pro Mujer platform, which focuses on the development of leadership, management, financial and entrepreneurial skills, will be adapted into accessible audio formats in indigenous languages. This content will be available through the Audiopedia Access Points, simple and innovative tools that integrate QR codes and digital links, working even in remote areas without an internet connection.

‘At the Audiopedia Foundation we believe that knowledge should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their language, literacy level or geographical location,’ said Marcel Heyne, co-founder and director of Audiopedia. ’Our collaboration with Pro Mujer allows us to connect innovative technology with the urgent needs of indigenous and rural women in Latin America, creating a bridge to a more just and inclusive future.’

Pro Mujer: More than three decades driving change in Latin America

Pro Mujer is a non-profit social organisation with more than 34 years' experience promoting gender equality in Latin America. Its comprehensive approach combines health services, financial inclusion and training opportunities so that women can improve their quality of life and become agents of change in their communities.

Through its Emprende Pro Mujer platform, the organisation provides access to education and practical tools to strengthen women's economic empowerment. In addition, Pro Mujer has been a pioneer in the region in promoting gender-focused investment as an effective mechanism for closing gaps and boosting the productivity of women-led companies and enterprises.

Pro Mujer's work is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has an impact in key areas such as health, education, financial inclusion and the prevention of gender-based violence.

Breaking the silence of a billion women

This alliance addresses a critical global need: to reach what is known as the ‘Silent Billion’, one billion women marginalised due to a lack of literacy or linguistic exclusion. According to GSMA, although more than 80% of women own a mobile phone and 3.1 billion people live in areas with internet coverage, many women do not use these tools due to a lack of digital skills or literacy.

The Audiopedia Foundation is focused on transforming this reality through the creation of culturally relevant and technically accessible content. By working hand in hand with Pro Mujer, this collaboration amplifies the impact, offering women not only practical knowledge, but also a tool to prosper and become agents of change in their communities.

A future driven by knowledge

The Audiopedia-Pro Mujer alliance is a clear example of how technological innovation and strategic collaboration can break down historical barriers. Both organisations share a commitment to advancing gender equality and providing women with the tools they need to reach their full potential.

With initiatives like this, the Audiopedia Foundation reaffirms its mission of empowering women through knowledge, creating a tangible impact on the most vulnerable communities.
